How to Accelerate and Standardize with a Headless Design System
Context
In the current scenario, we face the growing need to create a proprietary design system that efficiently meets the needs of our clients' projects. The main objective is to reduce the time required for design by having a well-organized component library, which facilitates governance and maintains visual consistency across products. Furthermore, ensuring seamless integration between design and development is essential to streamline workflow and increase productivity.

Our team works with multi-brand clients, frequently dealing with portfolios that can include more than 20 distinct brands, each with its own visual identity. The complexity increases as each brand requires meticulous adherence to its individual design guidelines. The UAI DS was developed not only to act as an accelerator for the development of new products for these clients but also to be used in internal products of Squadfy, offering a scalable and flexible solution.

To face these complex challenges, we developed a headless design system in multiple layers. This approach allows us to maintain the unique identity of each brand while preserving visual consistency across all projects. The design system was designed to be deeply integrated with development, making it easier to implement at any stage of a project, whether it is new or ongoing.
